There's nothing quite like living in the South
Things that I will never get used to about living south of the Mason-Dixon line:
- "Sweet tea." Not tea with sweetener, no. Sweet tea. It's an entirely different animal.
- The flexibility with which people interpret traffic laws. And it's NOT just because there are lots of old people down here!
- Church signs and other religiously-based advertising. The sign in front of the church up the road has been a constant source of mirth for John and me, providing such gems as "If you're too open-minded, your brains will fall out." And the other day we saw a sign for a lawn service, which read "Cuttin' sod while servin' God."
- The fact that they actually call Northerners "Yankees."
- Barking tree frogs.
- Boiled peanuts and other Southern cuisine.
